Big Bear Lake City Council

The City of Big Bear Lake is a Charter City operating under the Council-Manager form of government. Five council members are elected at large for four-year overlapping terms. The Mayor is chosen on an annual basis by the members of City Council. The Council is responsible for policy-making and general oversight and appoints the City Manager to conduct daily operations through a professional staff in accordance with the law and appropriate procedures. The Council and City Manager are also involved in inter-governmental relations, coordinating directly with the State, various cities, joint power authorities and other jurisdictions on a wide range of regional issues.

 

Council meetings are scheduled the second and fourth Mondays of every month at 6:30 p.m. at the City of Big Bear Lake Civic Center (Hofert Hall), located at 39707 Big Bear Blvd, though the mid-month meeting is typically canceled. We encourage the public to attend meetings and provide input on matters being considered by the elected body. Information on speaking at meetings is on the City website under City Council. Presentations longer than 3 minutes must be scheduled ahead of time as agenda items.

 

Airport Board of Directors

Mission Statement
The Big Bear Airport District serves the Big Bear Valley by providing a safe, efficient and superior venue for aviation operations.

The Board of Directors of the Big Bear Airport District meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 4:00 p.m. in the School District Board Room. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.

Bear Valley Community Healthcare District

Big Bear Lake Planning Commission

The Planning Commission is a five-member advisory body, appointed by City Council for four-year terms. The City's Planning Division provides staff support to the Planning Commission, under the direction of the City Planner. Planning Commission meetings are held the first and third Wednesdays of every month at 1:15 p.m. at the Civic Center, located at 39707 Big Bear Lake Blvd.

BVUSD School Board

Public Participation at Board Meetings

We appreciate your attendance and participation. Regular meetings are generally held in the Board Room of the District Office, 42271 Moonridge Road in Big Bear Lake. At all Regular Meetings, there is an opportunity on the agenda (Hearing Section) for citizens to address the Board of Trustees for any item not appearing on the agenda. For your convenience, we have provided the protocols for addressing the Board of Trustees as well as the "Request to Speak" card. These cards are available at the board meetings or you may print out the first page of the card and complete the card prior to arriving at the meeting.

Regular Meetings are called to order at 4:00 p.m. for a Closed Session, when necessary. Open Sessions begin at 5:30 p.m. When applicable, presentation time frame is 15 minutes for presentations; 10 minutes for questions/discussion; 25 total minutes.

The Big Bear City Community Services District is an independent Special District that is governed by a locally elected five member Board of Directors. The Board of Directors' responsibilities include establish policy, providing oversight, and setting direction for the District to meet its mission of providing the residents of the Big Bear City area with quality services.

The Board of Directors welcomes communication with the public regarding issues of District operations. The public is welcomed at meetings and can leave messages for the Board members by contacting them directly or by calling the District office at (909)585-2565.

Regular Board meetings are scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month. The Board meets at the Big Bear City Community Services District main office, located at 139 E. Big Bear Blvd., Big Bear City, CA 92314. All meetings are conducted in accordance of the Ralph M. Brown Act.

The Human Resources Manager/Board Secretary Morgan Szabad currently serves as Secretary to the Board of Directors. Information regarding the Governing Board and/or its documents can be directed to the Secretary at (909)585-2565 or by email at mszabad@bbccsd.org.

Board of Water and Power Commissioners

The Department of Water and Power (DWP) is governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners (Board) appointed by the City of Big Bear Lake, City Council. DWP serves the City of Big Bear Lake and the unincorporated communities of Fawnskin, Erwin Lake, Lake William, Sugarloaf, Moonridge, and a small RV Park on the north shore of Big Bear Lake.

Regular Board meetings are held at 9 a.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month. The meetings take place at the DWP Board Room located at 41972 Garstin Dr. Big Bear Lake, CA 92315. Public comments are welcomed and encouraged.
